The Issues "I have known Paula Gilchrist since she worked on my congressional staff nearly 15 years ago. She possesses the qualities we all want in our public servants. She cares deeply about her neighbors and community and she has the intelligence, experience, good judgement, and work ethic to do a great job for the people of Douglas County. I am urging my friends to support Paula with their contributions, their time, and their votes." Jim Slattery Paula did not enter this race to perpetuate old practices that have produced mixed results for county citizens. She became a candidate to bring a fresh perspective and make a positive difference. She will work to reduce waiting in line and improve the flow of information. She will provide outstanding stewardship to protect the county's investments. She favors accessible satellite locations and extended hours of service. Her goal is to establish a treasurer's office willing to accommodate and advocate on behalf of taxpayers. The state has a unique schedule for transferring authority in treasurer's offices: October 2005. Paula, as treasurer-elect, will have nearly a year to study service delivery and operations: time for change.
